Walmart prides itself on being a good neighbor. Like our Walmart store, which has been part of the Merced community for over 14 years, our proposed distribution center will strive to be a good neighbor and working partner.
A Walmart Distribution Center in Merced Means:
- Job Opportunities – Up to 1000 new jobs in the first year of operation, 600 of which will be full-time positions. Full-time positions will grow to 900 associates once fully operational, and approximately 600 construction jobs will be created to build an environmentally friendly and energy efficient building.
- Competitive Pay –The average pay for full-time hourly associates at our current operating California Distribution Centers is $16.50 per hour.
- Associate Benefits – Associates are eligible for a full benefits package including medical, dental, 401k, profit sharing program, merchandise discounts, paid vacations and more.
- Green Fleet – Walmart’s 2007 generation trucks have innovative design features which will reduce fuel consumption and contribute to cleaner air in our communities.
- Charitable Donations – Since 2000, Walmart has contributed over $2.5 million to local causes and non-profit organizations we serve throughout the Central Valley.
